The Power Rangers Movie Casts it's Queen Villain!
Who didn't dream of being a Power Ranger when you were a kid? Personally, I was torn between the Green Ranger and the White Ranger... green being my favorite color, white being more powerful (in my opinion). Fortunately in both cases it was "teenager with attitude" Tommy, so it's pretty much the same hero.
Technicalities aside, we were all excited about the news of a new Power Rangers movie being produced and set to release next year. The five main Rangers have already been cast:
- Naomi Scott: The Pink Ranger
- RJ Cycler: The Blue Ranger
- Becky G: The Yellow Ranger
- Dacre Montgomery: The Red Ranger
- Ludi Lin: The Black Ranger
- ????????: The Green/White Ranger?????
Many fresh faces will be making their silver screen debut as a lead role, but now adding some star power to the morphin' movie is Hunger Games veteran Elizabeth Banks! She was just cast to play the villainous Rita Repulsa in the reboot. Anyone who knows Rita Repulsa's character and her diabolic laugh knows it takes someone crazy to pull it off - and I think Effie Trinket is totally a step in the right direction!

iOS 7 Hands-On Review
This week Apple announced new MacBook Airs, gave a glimpse of the new Mac Pro, showed off the new OSX Mavericks (they quit with the cat names) and revealed their iOS 7 mobile software with new features and a fresh redesign. iOS 7 is set to be released to the general public this fall, but today I got my hands on the iOS 7 Beta software for developers and installed it on my iPhone 5, muahahaha! Three words: It. Is. Brilliant.
If you don't know already, I am an iPhone (and Apple for that matter) addict. I've owned every iPhone model since it's inception, and work my family plan upgrades to make sure I can continue to buy every new release as they roll out. When I first saw the WWDC keynote this week and got a glimpse of the software re-design, I have to admit I was skeptical at first.
Apple, the Godfather of the smartphone, established it's mobile software design identity with the original iPhone, and pretty much maintained it through iOS 6 (what everyone has now). I loved the the curvature of the icons, the style of the text families and the simplicity they created. Android burst on the scene with (in my opinion) a cluttered explosion or bells and whistles.
Fast forward to today where Windows Mobile has established their design identity with solid colors, square icons and rectangular dividers. And when I saw iOS 7 for the first time, the first thing I thought of was "It looks like a Windows Phone."
Apple has ditched the beveled, glossy, and curved icons and embraced flat (slightly faded) icons. But after playing with iOS 7 on my phone, my skepticism vanished after seeing how the new design worked with the flow of its use. Right away, my favorite new feature, although small, is the motion response interface, where the device responds to any movements and creates a 3D effect in the background. In layman's terms, the background moves behind the homescreen icons and it feels like you can stick your fingers into your phone. It's soooo sweet!!! This 3D effect is mesmerizing and sets the foundation of the redesign; having a hierarchy of your active apps stacked in front of each other like layers.
As you open different apps and settings of the phone, there's a slight translucency to the layers that come forth. It's really neat because your background image bleeds through different windows you're using, and things like the phone dial numbers will match whatever your background is. This is what makes the new "slick" and "elegant" design work very well, especially since you have the ability to customize it a little.
Among the HUNDREDS of new features of iOS 7, here are some that I really love:
- Control Center: Just by swiping up from the bottom you can control everything from WiFi, sleep mode, screen brightness to accessing the flashlight (yes, no more 3rd part apps!!) clock and calculator. This is very convenient because most of the features I use all the time that take up to 3 or 4 taps to open are in the same spot, available even when you're on the lock screen.
- Camera Update: Apple now has its own filters built in with the camera, and while they're not as good as Instagram's, they are way better than Twitter's (which isn't saying too much). I do like that you can see the filters live as you're taking a photo too. And now you just swipe to the right and left to get to the "square" photo mode, panorama mode, and video mode. Once in video mode, you can FINALLY zoom in AND turn on the flash!
- Photos Update: Photos are now automatically sorted by "Years," "Collections" and "Moments." This is pretty cool because in "Years" you can view your photos in a mosaic style grouped by year, go deeper to "Collections" and they're grouped by location and series of dates, then "Moments" zooms in to view the photos the same size as before.
- Multitasking: When you double click the home button, your active apps line up left to right with scrolling previews. You can swipe up to close and remove any one of them. iOS 7 also remembers which apps you frequently use and will use it's "brain" to arrange them accordingly in the future.
- Safari Update: Safari now has a smart search that you can type web addresses or keywords into, so no the annoying two search boxes are gone. And now when you want to switch between open pages, they're arranged "cover-flow" style from front to back. This is surprisingly convenient when switching between pages quickly.
- AirDrop: I haven't been able to use this yet, but this is Apples new way to easily send photos, files, contacts and more with iPhones and iPads around you. Instead of Photostreaming a pic to Alissa who is close to me, I just open airdrop, her photo automatically pops up, and I send her the picture. No app or WiFi needed.
- iTunes Radio: Apple's version of Pandora where you can pick an artist or genre and let it play, PLUS the ability to use Siri to control it i.e. "Who plays that song?" and "Play more like this."
Beyond the features I just highlighted are an updated, cleaner notification center, Today Mode that shows the day's weather, meetings, and other events at a quick glance, new voices and commands for Siri, and much more. All of these updates maintain the new "layering" style with thinner, sleeker fonts and keep a workflow that's seamless and not cluttered. Two new hidden gems I also have to highlight... BLOCKED calls/texts to keep from hearing from anyone again, and Activation Lock, which gives thieves a useless phone if they don't have the iCloud login information associated with the iPhone.
I was scared at first that Apple was caving in and ripping off Windows and Android. And there are many features in iOS 7 that I'm sure iPhone's competitors already have. But what makes Apple great is that when they finally add the little things we want, you can tell it was thought through completely and not rushed (EXCEPT FOR MAPS!!!!!!!). The new iOS design may look a bit like Windows or Android, but the second you touch, interact and experience it, it's what makes all of Apple's products what they are... beautiful.

Fast and Furious 6 MOVIE REVIEW
Fast cars! Explosions! Muscles! Tough girls! Fighting! A tank! An airplane! A VOLCANIC LAVA RACE!!! Okay, I made that last one up. But whoever said "less is more" clearly has no idea how much fun a movie can be when "real-world physics" are thrown out the window. And let me repeat it, this is a MOVIE. So if you're that person that won't enjoy an action film because "that's not possible," you might as well click over to another one of my blogs.
All the "Fast" friends are back in the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious series... Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Tyrese, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, and Gal Gadot. Before you see this movie, I STRONGLY suggest that you watch the previous 5. If you haven't, it's okay, but there are a lot of character re-appearances, mentions, and story lines that will make more sense if you understand what's been going on since 2001. Plus you'll understand the significance of certain plot details.
The flick opens up with a montage of scenes from all the F&F movies then straight into it's trademark opening race scene. And yes, it was very "edgy." After their last heist, the crew is enjoying their life in each of their own worlds. But after a highly skilled criminal gang led by mastermind Oscar Shaw (Luke Evans) pursues warfare technology, Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) tracks down Dom (Vin Diesel) and enlists his crew to take down and capture Shaw. The incentive: Hobbs shows Dom a picture of Letty, Dom's ex-girlfriend everyone presumed was dead, who is allegedly working alongside Shaw.
The underlying theme of the movie is "family," as Dom states frequently, and being the 6th movie, it's really a family reunion. The cast, with each of their unique personalities, works great and the interaction is natural. The movie does a great job plugging in humorous banter (Tyrese and Ludacris), and is definitely the funniest one of the series. Don't expect any Oscars for their serious performances, though, but what do you expect?
The action was EXTREME!!! I took a while to get going in order to lay down the story line, but once it hit, it was non-stop high-octane power for an hour and 45 minutes. I was trying to envision how they would top the double Chargers pulling the bank vault through the city in Fast 5, but apparently it's possible. Between buildings toppling and bridges crumbling, what I loved is that Justin Lin (director) pulled no stops and created 4 HUGE action sequences, when each could have stood alone. Some people said there wasn't as much "racing" as before, but I'll counter that with the street "chasing" scenes being amazing. This movie didn't need 4 one-on-one races where someone granny-shifts instead of double-clutches or presses the NOS button too soon. I'll take a Batman-esque formula one car with metal flippers, a tank crushing through the freeway, and an epic cargo plane chase scene any day (all of which are in this movie).
Even though F&F is all about cars, the fight sequences were by far the best in this one. And I will say that in movie history, FF6 wins for the BEST girl-on-girl fight scenes.. PERIOD. Former MMA champion fighter Gina Carano (who plays agent Hobbs' partner) takes on Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) for the most intense female combat ever playing out in excruciating detail. It also does help that Michelle Rodriguez's career revolves around playing the "tough" chick. The fight scenes between the guys are well choreographed and will make you laugh one moment, then get you shouting out of your seat the next for sheer brutality. But we expect nothing less from The Rock and Vin Diesel, who use their muscles to their full (and even physically impossible) potential. And I have to say, Dwayne Johnson is a BEAST.
I also have to hand it to the stunt team, the drivers and Justin Lin for their ridiculous, BUT AWESOME stunts. Yes, it might not be possible to jump 100 feet from car to car on top of a bridge, but holy cow did it look SWEET!! They didn't disappoint with the cars either, featuring a '69 Dodge Daytona, '69 Anvil Mustang, '73 Jensen Inceptor, '10 Dodge Challenger, and a Ford Escort Mark I. And each car gets a good amount of screen time racing and chasing. I have to admit it was sad seeing some of them get destroyed for the greater good.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I guarantee you that the twists in this movie will BLOW. YOUR. MIND! Another reason why it's a good idea to watch the previous five before you see it.
As Vin Diesel put it... "It's the best movie in the world and it's a love story and it's baller status." Fast and Furious 6 is everything you'd expect from the series, and fans know what it's all about; hot rods & imports, never-ending explosions, and doing anything for family. Despite unrealistic antics, they raised the bar again for explosive, skilled, and creative stunts with cars. Paying $9 for a 2-Hour non-stop adrenaline-pumped ride was well worth it.
If you drive out of the parking lot of the theater after seeing FF6 without the urge to challenge the old lady at the stop light to a race against your Toyota Camry (or in my case a Hyundai Tucson), then I don't know what movie will ever rev your engine. UNLESS that urge is, instead, to drive a tank on 270.
My official rating: I give Fast & Furious 6 4/5 CW Stars!
My First Spray Tan Sesh!
I have a confession to make. Living in Southern California, being in the sun all the time and maintaining a sweet tan was part of my lifestyle. So when I moved to Ohio in 2005, I had to adjust. I mean, come on, look at my wife! As my paler complexion creeped its way through my skin, I started going to tanning beds frequently. It took some getting used to, lying there motionless with my little goggles and listening to a non-adjustable radio station. But once my dark passenger returned, I was hooked. I went through all kinds of tanning bed lotions from "Quadruple Bronzer" to "Red Hot Tingle," and yes it was expensive. My mind never paid much attention to the warnings of health risks and effects it can have on your skin, I'd just brush it off and say to myself "I'm young, it won't hurt."
Fast forward to the beginning of this year when I had my (first ever) skin analysis done at J.Bentley Studio & Spa. Along with giving me the skincare products that I needed to maintain healthy skin, they warned me of the damage that bed-tanning does to my skin. Now that I was getting these amazing products to make my skin look great, I definitely wasn't going to ruin it, so I made the decision to not go to the tanning beds.
Not long ago, I was told that J.Bentley Studio & Spa now offers spray tanning. I was a little hesitant at first as I've never done it before and have met enough dorito-glowers to turn me off to it. I called and asked about it, and after some reassurance with professional information, I set up my appointment.
The day before you go spray tanning, they ask that you exfoliate your skin. Basically just scrub your body well with your washrag or fancy loofah to clean the dead skin cells off. You'll want to wear loose clothes when you go, and when you arrive at J.Bentley, the wonderful Kelly will take you back to the spray tan room and get you set up.
Waiting for me was a plastic pod that you stand in while Kelly sprays you. Once I was ready she gave me a special lotion for my hands and knees/elbows, that way I don't end up with uneven color on my joints. I asked Kelly about the liquid that was about to be sprayed on, and she told me it contains natural moisturizers, so it's actually HEALTHY for your skin!
She grabbed the spray gun and began applying the first of two layers on me. It was a lot lighter than I expected, feeling like those patio misters the restaurants have in the summer. Once she finished the first layer, she sprayed on the second. Once that was done, she sprayed my face with a slightly lighter tone and it was over! Kelly told me that the tan will fade away in about 6-8 days, which means a whole week of UV-free darkening.
As you can see in the dramatic before and after, it's a HUGE but natural difference! No orange-tan here, just bronze magic. From walking in to walking out the whole process was about 25 minutes, as opposed to at least double the time it would take to tan outside or do multiple sessions in a bed. A few instructions for the rest of the day: I was advised to not take a shower or sweat for about 8 hours to allow the solution to set in the skin. I didn't feel sticky at all, and went about my day with no issues, finally taking a shower before I went to bed.
One of the biggest concerns I had about spray tanning was the stuff getting on my clothes the following days. So as a precaution, I wore a dark colored shirt to work. Once I got off work, I checked my clothes, and no stains! Test #1 was a success. It was now time for Test #2: high intensity movement at the gym. I wore a light colored tank and as I was sweating all I could think about was the tan fading away and onto my clothes (and in this case, the benches). But to my happy surprise (and confirmation of what Kelly told me) it didn't fade or bleed! Test #2 was a success.
All of my preconceived notions about spray tanning flew out the window after my first session at J. Bentley Studio & Spa. I didn't walk away orange, my clothes stayed stain-free, and it's faster than an episode of Family Feud! I'm officially hooked and can't wait to head back before my next event. *By the way, you cannot hold your phone and watch shows on your CWTV app while you spray tan, I tried.
Take it from someone who likes to have that perfect suntan, don't damage your skin with tanning beds, go for the gold-glow with a healthy spray tan at J. Bentley Studio & Spa. And make sure you tell them Cameron sent you so you can be treated like a star!
Oblivion MOVIE REVIEW
If Minority Report, The Matrix, Shawshank Redemption and Terminator:Salvation had a brainchild together, Oblivion would be born. Alissa and I had the opportunity to go see an advance screening of Oblivion in IMAX and it was definitely an experience.
The movie stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, one of the few remaining drone repairmen assigned to a post-apocalyptic-war Earth as resources are being extracted. He is paired with Victoria (Andrea Rideborough) as what's continually referred to as an "effective team," weeks away from joining other humans who have been evacuated to a lunar colony. Eventually Jack runs into Malcom (Morgan Freeman) and Julia (Olga Kurylenko) and discovers his life and purpose as a repairman are not what they seem.
Right when the movie starts, the sheer scale of the scenic cinematography was visually amazing. The deserted and destroyed landscape was magnified by the IMAX size, but it will still look stunning on a normal-sized screen. The tech-y visual effects were top notch and get you wishing for what you want to come in the real future.
The musical underscore and sound effects were just as wonderful, if not better. It was like a fusion between elements from Transformers with the soundtrack of Inception. If you're able to, pay special attention to the music during the pool scene (you'll understand when it happens). And also look for the Duran Duran plug!
That being said, I felt what initially was a simple and genuinely interesting story became muddied by too many new and complicated plots. If you are a sci-fi fan, some of these additions will make you say to yourself "that's just like _________." The opening narration that dragged the movie out too long could've been left out as explanations are made later in the movie. Also expect the cliche twists, and try not to laugh aloud as I did at the corniest "save the day" line imaginable.
The actors served their roles well. Tom Cruise fills his mold of blockbuster action star (great acting, nonetheless), Andrea's quaint yet precise personality fits her communications/watchtower character, and Morgan Freeman is Morgan Freeman trying to be a tougher Morgan Freeman (think Wanted). Olga played the confused/worried/scared card the whole time, so I couldn't tell how much she was really acting. It fit though!
The movie did stumble in parts, but it was refreshing to see an original concept in a day where adaptations, sequels and remakes have flooded theaters. It was definitely enjoyable to watch, and although predictable, it deserves credit as a solid sci-fi flick. If you love the futuristic toys of Minority Report, the eye-opening, reality-warping guidance of Morpheus, Morgan Freeman's voice and the inevitable machine vs. human war that will surely take place on our planet, then go see Oblivion while it's in theaters. And I STRONGLY recommend seeing it in IMAX!
My official rating: I give Oblivion 3/5 CW Stars!
My LASIK Eye Surgery Experience at Bloomberg Eye Center
The game is about to start, my nachos are in hand and I'm settling in my seat. I look up at the scoreboard, and as soon as I see that big blur of lights where the countdown clock should be, instant despair kicks in as I realize I forgot my glasses at home. This scenario has been replayed over and over again, not only at basketball games, but at Huntington Park, the movie theaters and concerts. I'm nowhere near blind without my glasses, I'm just nearsighted. Driving my usual routes is no problem, but venturing off into a new neighborhood trying to find streets without my specs becomes a problem.
The thought of eye surgery to rid of this constant annoyance was always in the back of my mind, but it just seemed so complicated and too much to try to do within my busy schedule (it's not easy being a CW Star, ha). On top of that, to be honest, it seemed a little intimidating. Being strapped down for (to my assumption) a long period of time with lasers shooting into my eyes wasn't on the top of my bucket list. My eyes are a pretty big deal, and for something to go wrong, that could potentially ruin my life and everything I wanted to do.
The opportunity then came up to actually get it done at Bloomberg Eye Center. I prepared myself for the looooong road to corrected sight that surely awaited, and I set my free consultation appointment.
Before my consultation date, Bloomberg mailed me all the information about their medical center, the LASIK procedure, as well as my paperwork to fill out beforehand so I didn't have to wait once I got there. Right off the bat, I was pleased to see they were already making the process as effortless as possible while giving me all the information I needed to know.
Once I got to Bloomberg Eye Center, I had my forms already filled out, so I didn't have to wait long. I was then greeted by one of the sweetest women I've ever met, Ms. Judy. She is one of the Directors at Bloomberg, and has worked there for over 25 years! As she was telling me how much she loves her job and helping people see again, I knew I was in great hands.
Within a few minutes, I met with Dr. Blausey, the Clinic Director, for some preoperative testing in order to see if I was a candidate for LASIK Eye Surgery. In order to be eligible for the procedure, they have to make sure your eyes are healthy and assure they have the most accurate measurments. I first completed a vision exam with the machine straight from Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience album cover. That took about 5 minutes. I then proceeded to a machine that measured my eyeball and pupil by just staring at a red dot in a hole. Easy enough. He then showed me with an eyeball model exactly how the procedure works, and answered my questions.
Next, Dr. Shahinfar, the Medial Director and the doctor who would perform the surgery met with me and performed one more eye test to make sure he had everything he needed. After that, he told me I was a "great" candidate for the Bladeless LASIK Eye Surgery! He said the sooner anyone can get LASIK done, the better. When you're younger, your eyes are healthier and you will be able to maintain clear vision for many more years.
At that point, he showed me the room and machine were the surgery takes place and explained how quickly and precisely it operated. Then I was sent to the receptionist to sign some paperwork and set my appointment. The cool part was that I could set my appointment as early as the next day! They gave me my prescriptions for my eyedrops as well as information for pre and post surgery.
The day before the surgery was upon me, and I searched through my paperwork to see what I had to do. To my amazement, I didn't have to do anything special the night before! If I did wear contacts, though, they would've told me to not sleep with them in. So I had a good dinner and slept the night away. On the day of the surgery, they tell you to not wear cologne, so at least make sure you take a shower. These wonderful people are giving me perfect vision, the least I can do is not stink up the office, ha.
I had my wife Katie come with me to Bloomberg Medical Center since she would need to drive on the way back home. Once I arrived at Bloomberg, Ms. Judy was there waiting again, and she guided me to the receptionist to get me checked in and set to go. Before they started with the procedure, they wanted to take measurements of my eyes one last time to double check that everything was perfect. After the measurements were taken, everything looked good and they gave me a Valium for the procedure. I wasn't too nervous about the surgery since the staff kept me well informed, so the Valium just made me giggle and slow things down a bit. Before I knew it, they were ready for me in the procedure room.
Dr. Shahinfar was waiting for me as I laid down onto the chair and the assistant proceeded to put a couple drops into my eyes. He slid me over so my right eye was under one of the scopes. As this point I just saw a red light, and he placed a stabilizer onto my eye. I felt nothing on my eye at all, no pain, just a little pressure around my eye. I began to remember all the times a little eyelash would be caught on my eyeball and it would be a pain trying to get it out, and now I can just see all these random objects and not feel a thing!
The machine first created a little flap on my eyeball (bladeless, no knives), then they slid me over to the other scope and used that machine to correct my vision. All I could see were little red dots for a few seconds, then that was it! After about 4 minutes total, my first eye was done. They repeated the process with my other eye, and I was finished in less than 10 minutes! They put a pair of protective lenses over my eyes, and when I sat up, my sight was just a little bit blurry, but I could still easily see.
Ms. Judy helped walk me out to my car (talk about door to door service!) and I was on my way home. My eyes were a little sensitive to light, it didn't hurt, but it made me keep my sunglasses on over my lenses. I was actually pretty hungry at that point, so on the way home, I went out to dinner with some friends. I must admit, I've had better looking days than being out in public with my sunglasses-covered taped-up lenses. They might've freaked people out at the restaurant, but a simple "I just had LASIK" satisfied everyone's curiosity. I ate dinner without any problems, closing my eyes a couple seconds every 5 -10 minutes to let them rest.
Once I got home, I put in my medicated drops and went straight to bed. The first couple nights they want you to wear the clear lenses when you sleep so you don't scratch your eyes at night. I first thought these might be an issue when trying to sleep, but the way they form-fit to your face didn't give me any trouble during the night.
When I woke up the next morning, I walked out of my bedroom and looked at my clock on the other side of the living room. What was once a fuzzy blur of indistinguishable 6's, 8's, 0's 4's, and 9's was now a clear 6:45. I went back into my bedroom to grab my glasses, put them on my head, and the 6:45 went out of focus. My vision was already clear! I got ready and hopped in the car to go my follow-up appointment, and my morning drive had never been so beautiful. Driving on the freeway I saw the signs in perfect clarity. I could see the crispness of all the cars and reflections for miles down the street. Everything was truly in HD!
I arrived at my follow-up appointment and met with Dr. Blausey. The first thing I did was an eye exam and I tested at 20/20! He noted that everything looked great and it was healing well. I did have some redness in my eyes from the surgery still, but he said that would go away in about a week and a half to two weeks. He said fully corrected vision can take about a month to set in, and since I was already seeing 20/20, it would only get better. He answered my questions and reminded me to continue my eye drop medications, a couple drops 4 times a day, which would last for about 2 weeks. The follow-up appointment took about 5 minutes, and I scheduled my one-month checkup on the way out. And later that day, I even got a phone message from Ms. Judy asking how I was feeling!
In one day I went from blurry vision to HD vision. I thought that eye surgery would be such a strenuous and challenging process to go through, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Every step of the quick journey was not only simple, but I was guided, comforted and helped by an amazing team at Bloomberg Eye Center. There are obviously tons of eye surgery centers across the country, but having people that love their job and truly care about your well being is something you can't find everywhere else. Eye clearly made the right choice by going to Bloomberg Eye Center, and I'm so happy to never need my glasses again. There is only one downside to this experience though... realizing that I could have done it sooner!

Thai Paradise Restaurant- A Plethora of Asian Cuisines
Sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to find a good Chinese/Asian food spot. Everywhere you turn, theres another Asian Buffet or Chinese Express Takeout in the stripmall. When you do find one though, it can be magical. Thai Paradise in Pickerington is an absolute gem. With a plethora of Chinese, Thai and Korean food, the menu taunts you to try everything on it. Its a very small, casual restaurant so dont feel pressured to dress up. My personal picks so far have been the Green Curry and Chicken Pad Thai (their Pad Thai is the real deal). The portions are huge, the staff actually remembers you, and if you want it spicy, theyll have no problem accommodating your request.

I picked a pair up the other week at PacSun, and my eyes have never felt so cool. They have a slightly oversized, classic wayfarer frame with some explosive styling in their wide range of available colors (I got lime green, of course). With summer around the corner, I guarantee youll turn heads rocking these lenses.

I Donated Blood for the First (and Not the Last) Time!
Sometimes a good find is something youve never done, but should be doing. This past week, I donated blood for the first time at a blood drive hosted by J.Bentley Studio & Spa. Honestly, I was a little hesitant at first, but the experience couldnt have been more comfortable and easy. Right now, the American Red Cross is running low on blood supply and plasma, so theyre asking anyone that can to find a drive near you and be a hero. The whole process can take as little as 30-45 minutes. Plus, theres no better feeling than knowing your actions can help save a life.

A Culinary Adventure at Till Dynamic Fare Restaurant
Last week, I had the pleasure of embarking on a culinary adventure during Restaurant Week Columbus, and one of my destinations was Till Dynamic Fare. Owner and indie chef artist Magdeale Wolmark is a two time James Beard nominee and an expert of biodynamic agriculture, placing the highest production standards on the ingredients he uses. The food is very unique and very delicious, the most popular being the lamb burger, one of the best burgers Ive had in the city. The bread was fluffy, the meat was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was as fresh as it gets. Make sure you explore the rest of the scrumptious menu as it includes chicken liver clairs, crispy pig tails and goat cheese tiramisu. They wont let your taste buds down!

Breaking Pointe Ignites Docu-Drama Fire on The CW
Breaking Pointe, CW's new docu-drama chronicling the lives of professional ballet dancers at Salt Lake City's iconic Ballet West dance company, premiered to outstanding reviews.
The critics found the style to be a raw, true documentary feel. The stars, who are professional ballet dancers at various levels of their careers, lives consist of actual drama, not scripted babble often found on reality television series.
These dancers are in love, in pain, in fear of being out of a job and in pursuit of perfection - the elusive ideal of ballet.

ANTM Winner Speaks Out About Contestant's Addiction
News broke out that a former Americas Next Top Model contestant has been battling a drug addiction. While there's some potential debate on the issue, here are the facts.
Jael Strauss, a cycle 8 contestant, is struggling against a methamphetamine addiction. Strauss, 28, had a haunting intervention staged by Dr. Phil.
In response, the winner of cycle 7 of ANTM, CariDee English, spoke out on Strauss behalf on the gossip site Gawker. She hints that Strauss may not have been able to handle the pressures of modeling and the competition, but was chosen because she had a personality good for television.
CariDee claims that the host, Tyra Banks, never did anything to support the contestants and that they had to fend for themselves, both on the show and after its production and filming ended.
Tyra wasnt there when the cameras stopped rolling, nor did she reach out, English commented. Now, this isnt Tyras faultwe are all capable of becoming anythingI am saying it would have been a good call to have some after-show support.
Heres what I think:
While CariDee has a valid point, her expectations of who she expected to be her mentor could have been too high. In that industry, as well as almost any industry, no one will be mapping out every step for you. Following your dreams is something you have to do on your own. The road will inevitably be hard, but thats no reason to turn to drugs. In fact, thats a reason not to turn to drugs.
Most aspiring models are not lucky enough to have a Tyra Banks figure helping them at all. Maybe it wasnt so smart to bite the hand that feeds.
I do hope that Jael Strauss gets better, and Im glad that she found the help she needs. However, this should be a lesson to any aspiring model, actor, singer, director, lawyer, corporate executive " its your life, which means your destiny is in your hands. Everyone else out there is busy living their own lives, what are you going to do with yours?
What do you think? Wed love to hear your feedback!

Wonder Woman May Be Flying Into The CW
There is talk that Diana of Themyscira may be flying into The CW!
The CW has teamed up with Warner Brothers TV and DC Comics to bring a full-out original series of the feminist icon (that means no hooking up with the Man of Steel in this).
Allan Heinberg, who has also written for Grey's Anatomy and Fox's The O.C., is said to be the main writer behind the new Wonder Woman series, which will be presented under the name Amazon.
Also having wrote the Young Avengers comic book series back in 2005, Heinberg's goal is to promote Wonder Woman as a "young budding superhero" opposed to a "fully formed defender of liberty".
We'll admit that nothing is set in stone, and there is only talk of a script so far.
Comments have not been made on any company's behalf. Stay tuned with The CW to see whether or not this idea moves forward and the network graces your TV with Amazon in the future!

Denise Richards to Appear on 90210's 100th Episode
90210s fifth season is almost here, and there is a special guest star for its 100th episode: Denise Richards.
Richards is certainly no stranger to this affluent zip code: she appeared on Beverly Hills, 90210 as Robin McGill, a guest at Jackie and Mels wedding, and on Melrose Place as Brandi Carson, a teen beauty queen seductress.
On 90210, Richards will be playing Gwen, an ex West Beverly High School queen bee who becomes, well, a wealthy socialite queen bee. She is the head of a powerful womens club that Naomi Clark is dying to join, so naturally they will butt heads.
There isnt very much room at the top.
Lets see how the two square off. In one corner, theres Gwen: 56, hot, blonde, wealthy, socialite. In the other corner we have Naomi: 57, hot, blonde, wealthy, socialite. It seems that the two are pretty evenly matched, although Naomis extra inch on Gwen may give her an advantage. However, a good pair of Louboutins could even out the playing field. On one hand, Gwen is older and more experienced. Still, who doesnt envy youth?
It should be an explosive episode so be sure to tune in!
Degrassi's Stacey Farber to Join CW's "Cult"
Attention Degrassi fans: Another alum from Degrassi Community School is joining the CW family! Like Shenae Grimes (90210) and Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Stacey Farber is returning to television by joining the cast of Cult, a new show airing in January.
The show will also be starring three other CW veterans: Matt Davis (The Vampire Diaries), Jessica Lucas (Melrose Place), and Alona Tal (Supernatural).
Matt Davis plays Jeff Sefton, an investigative journalist, who searches for his missing brother. He believes this mysterious disappearance is linked to Cult, a hot new television series, and its fans are recreating the crimes seen on the show. Jeff finds a partner in Skye Yarrow, a research assistant for Cult, who also becomes suspicious of the sinister events tied to the show.
Farber will join this investigative team as E.J., a technology whiz.
The show seems very dark, but dark is certainly not foreign to Farber. Her gothic character on Degrassi: The Next Generation, Ellie Nash, dealt with depression, cutting, an alcoholic mother, and a father fighting overseas in Afghanistan. That was just the beginning! Any Degrassi fan knows that the drama definitely does not end there.
For more info about the show in the upcoming season, you can follow Stacey Farber on Twitter (where she announced her news) @staceyfarber18 as well as The CW Columbus @cwstarcolumbus!
The Huntress to Join The CW’s “Arrow” Cast
A new character has joined the cast of The CWs new, highly-anticipated show Arrow, which premiers Wednesday, October 10 at 8/7c.
The Helena Bertinelli version of The Huntress, played by Australian actress Jessica De Gouw, will play a possible love interest for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).
Instead of hanging out on her usual turf at Gotham City, shell probably be in Starling City where the show takes place. There, her character is manifested as a mafia boss daughter who seeks to avenge the death of her family. This is where it gets interesting: Although he's a potential love interest, Oliver Queen (alias Arrow) is aiming to take down her fathers mafia on his quest for justice.
Since Arrow is a brand new show, Oliver Queen is sort of the new kid on the block. We, as an audience, aren't acquainted with him. What we do know is that hes rich, mysterious, gorgeous, and doubles as a vigilante by night. He seems to be a good catch; who doesnt like a little danger and excitement?
Still, one should assess how he stacks up against The Huntresss exes. She was briefly associated with Nightwing, a sort of dreamy Kryptonian Batman, and has been tied to The Question, an intriguing journalist in a film noir style world. That's pretty sexy, and quite frankly, hard to beat. Not to mention the DC Comics heroine has been known to be violent, passionate, and unpredictable. While these qualities can be enticing, they ultimately mean drama for the couple. It should be interesting to see where the series takes us. The Huntress makes her entrance around the sixth episode.
Vampire Diaries Has A New Girl In Town
The Vampire Diaries have a few twists for the upcoming season. Nine Lives of Chloe King starlet, Grace Phipps will play 16-year-old April who returns to town after her father dies. Having history with Jeremy and Elena, Elena takes it upon herself to protect April from the secrets of the town. However, April may have connections to a vampire hunter coming this season. We'll have to wait and watch!
Appearing in episode 2 next season, King is not new to vampire business having recently strarred in the remake of Fright Night. She's also stated her love for Buffy The Vampire Slayer along with her lack of love for Twilight.
